The Elephants Come to Town

  • Elephants perform underneath the Brooklyn Bridge as they march into Brooklyn for the Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus, where the 143rd iteration of "the Greatest Show on Earth" will be performed at the Barclays Center.
  • Platters of fruit are put down to feed the elephants as they march beneath the Brooklyn Bridge.
  • An announcer, decked out in circus finery, speaks to the crowd which lined the street to watch the elephants.
  • Protesters, wearing clown makeup and elephant hats, protests against what they call the inhumane treatment of animals that travel with the circus.
  • Platters of fruit are put down to feed the elephants as they march beneath the Brooklyn Bridge.

Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz welcomed Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus to Brooklyn for the first time ever underneath the Brooklyn Bridge on March 20. Markowitz declared the day ‘Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Day.’ Nearby, PETA protested the circus, accusing them of abusing elephants.
